What People's Say About Place

I am pretty critical with Mexican food. This place knows what they are doing. The food was fresh and flavorful. The service was great also. I will definitely be back.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem accidentally. It looked super cute so o course added it to my Try list. We hate crowds so went on a Monday afternoon 230ish. Only occupant was one worker. A young man who was very welcoming. I ordered the carne asada with flour tortillas. Dude ordered Jalisco bowl. The salsa was hella bland. A baby could've drank it. But knowing local palettes think a chili bean is too spicy, I am resigned to receiving limp salsa by now. The food didn't take long and came out sizzlin n lookin sexxxy. The shrimp from the bowl was perfectly cooked! That's very impressive and a rarity in my experience. Often they are curled up tight as a fist and rubbery enough to bounce. My steak oh ho! Well cooked, seasoned. The blistered jalapeno on top may have been the best part. Next time I'd order like half a dozen. The beans were good, texture n taste. The rice was good. However, the bowl did have the stupid Chinese vegetables that are apparently a requirement for any restaurant rice now. WHYYYYY They seasoned the rice well enough those ugly lil bits weren't discernable in the taste so thankful for that at least. This place was spanking clean. The menus were slick and the joint is surprisingly tech savvy with an app as well as a rewards program! Very impressive. Def recommend this restaurant. The food was the best Mexican fare we've had in awhile. ;)

My bride and I ordered delivery tonight for the first time at this restaurant, and that’s why there is no rating on service and atmosphere. With that being said, we did get carnitas tacos and I ordered a torta with steak and add chorizo. We both agreed having eaten at similar restaurants around town that the carnitas were so flavorful. The torta was outstanding too and I consider myself a chorizo snob, and with the steak was pretty incredible! This truly the best we have had in a while and cannot wait to dine in!

Picante Mexican Cuisine in Valparaiso offers a satisfying and affordable Mexican dining experience. The restaurant boasts a casual atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal. We visited on New Year's Eve around 4 pm and were delighted to find the place nearly empty, allowing for a quick seating and a prompt greeting from our server. Although the complimentary chips and salsa were a bit underwhelming (the chips seemed store-bought and the salsa lacked freshness), our main courses more than made up for it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Enchiladas Verdes, which were bursting with flavor. The rice served alongside was a pleasant surprise, cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. My wife's Fajitas Platter was equally impressive, featuring a generous portion of tender, juicy, and well-grilled chicken. She also shared my enthusiasm for the delicious rice. Despite the minor hiccup with the chips and salsa, Picante Mexican Cuisine delivered a tasty and affordable meal. The efficient service and comfortable ambiance further enhanced our dining experience. We will undoubtedly be back to explore more of their menu.

Picante is amazing! The carnitas are some of the best I have ever had, and the Fried Cheesecake burrito caps a dinner from here off perfectly. I usually get this delivered, but have dined there a couple of times as well & I absolutely love this place. We have a ton of great Mexican restaurants in Valpo, if you haven’t tried Picante yet, do it- you won’t be sorry!

The food here was really good! We ordered the steak burrito, steak tacos and steak fajitas. All very good. Prices and food were better than the other place in valpo I've been to. Didn't try their margaritas but next time I intend to. They were on special sat night for $5! Have a kids menu and high chairs. Will definitely be going to this place more often!

Excellent food. Prices were great as well. Top notch service. Everything we ate was amazing- especially the California burrito!

This is very quickly becoming one of my favorite newer restaurants in Valpo! I've eaten there 5 or 6 times now, and every single time the food has been hot, fresh, and just absolutely on-point! And every time we order pick-up, it's ALWAYS ready in 15 minutes! The order accuracy is superb, and the portions are more than adequate! Thanks, Picante, you guys are awesome; keep doing what you're doing!
